Movement & Motion Photographs

All photographs are determined by exposure to light, and shutter speed is just one component to consider in determining exposure. Students in Digital Photography learned how shutter speed can completely change a photograph, especially when it comes to moving subjects. The students took three different kinds of photos that all fit the theme of movement and motion.

Freeze Motion – Students set the shutter speed to a fast speed to completely freeze any motion without blur.

Teen Read Week Book Posters

1ricardo_robles

For Teen Read Week, Mr. Diaz’ digital imaging students were asked to design posters for books but in the style of a movie poster. The main objective was to demonstrate visual hierarchy: a design concept that uses color, contrast, size or other visual tools so that viewers get a sense of visual importance when looking at a design. Students were also supposed to create original artwork that captured the essence of the story by compositing various images together. Students used their own portraits to turn themselves into the main characters.

Art Advertisements 2013/2014

David Juarez

Students in Digital Imaging used prominent artworks as the starting point for this project. They designed a print advertisement that tied the content of the artwork to a modern day product. In some cases, students needed to come up with their own slogan to connect the product to the art work. They also were tasked with illustrating the concept of visual hierarchy, which is a concept that is crucial to graphic design. View some examples of the project.
