Social Issue Posters 2009-2010

Students addressed social issues they felt were important to them. They began by researching their topic and attempted to understand the issue from all viewpoints. Based on their research of the issue, students then had to visually communicate their view by designing a poster. Students also wrote a short statement explaining the issue as they understood it and the message they wanted to communicate with their posters. View more posters here.

Link Crew 2010-11

Congratulations to our Link Leaders for 2010-11. The students who were chosen to be our leaders were identified as students on campus who are positive role models, responsible, possess leadership qualities, are kind and most importantly, have a desire to give back to their school community. We really had a hard time narrowing it down because so many of our students fit that description. Unfortunately, we only have a limited number of openings. If you didn’t make it, we hope you still find other ways to contribute to the El Rancho community in positive ways, and we look forward to you applying again next year. Logos & Business Card

Using Photoshop CS3′s vector graphics capabilities, students in Digital Imaging 1B designed an original logo for a fake brand or organization. Students also designed business cards to go along with their logos. See more designs here.

Typography Self-Portraits – Spring 2010

Digital Imaging 1B – Students created self-portraits by arranging descriptive words, phrases, and sentences to depict the various light and dark values. See more here.

Art Advertisements

Students in Digital Imaging 1A designed a one-page print advertisement that demonstrated an understanding of Visual Hierarchy. They also needed to use a famous artwork as the main visual of their advertisement. This required some students to think of a new slogan that cleverly and creatively connected the product to the artwork. View more.

Perfect People

Students in Digital Imaging 1A were introduced to compositing and created one image from a variety of sources. They manipulated color and proportion to get their composite images to look real or funny. Then, they took their own face and combined it with features from other students in the class.
