Color Gel Portraits

Working with their knowledge of color theory and of portrait photography, students in Digital Photography worked with studio lighting and colored gels to create these dynamic portraits. Students also developed their skills in directing a model and creating interesting poses as they photographed their subject.

Wildlife Photos

Students in Digital Photography attempted to capture a unique photograph of wildlife. They quickly learned about the incredible level of patience needed to be a photographer for National Geographic. Students also were required to identify the species they photographed and upload the results to iNaturalist.

Shutter Speed Photographs 2017

In Photography, Shutter Speed is the amount of time (in seconds or fractions of a second) the shutter on a camera opens up to allow the image sensor (or film in the olden days) to capture light and create an image. Students in digital photography learned how to use shutter speed to create a variety of effects in photographs of moving objects.

FREEZING MOTION: Students used a very fast shutter speed to freeze their subject in the photo.
